This home has been highly modified in the last couple of years including a new water heater, kitchen appliances and the elevator.

As we approach the front door, we begin to see the extent to which the home has been modified and the quality of workmanship that has gone into the changes. A concrete ramp leads up to the door allowing wheelchair access.

The front door is secured with a press button key lock with a secure key safe accessed through a combination pad. The door itself has an amazing 4ft panel that opens from the inside a gives the occupier a view of anyone who is at the front door, even from a wheelchair level. This panel has fly and security screens to protect the owners.

Entering the home we see a newly renovated timber stairway on the left to give access to the 1st floor for carers or emergency workers.

The whole apartment has smooth flooring, either tiles or timber look, for convenient cleaning – no carpets anywhere. The lounge area is open plan with the kitchen and there are modern downlights throughout.

In the corner of the lounge is a new handicap-friendly elevator, with a hold down remote, that will transport occupants to the first floor. The elevator is brilliant with motion-sensitive lights that automatically illuminate the whole system when being used.

Still, on the ground floor, the kitchen is again handicap friendly with new Fisher and Paykel appliances throughout and heaps of cupboard space. There are stone-like benchtops, a ceramic cooktop and an appliance I have never seen before, a combination oven with a one drawer dishwasher underneath, what a great idea.

Beyond the kitchen is a laundry with a guest toilet and access to the outside for drying, and to the single lockup remote garage in case of inclement weather.

On the 1st floor, access by the stairs or elevator, there are three major rooms, a bedroom that is currently used as a study/office. This room has a fan and built-in wardrobes. There is no door for ease of access.

Across the hall is the master bedroom, with a fan and air-conditioning for temperature control. A walk-in wardrobe leads through to the 2-way bathroom, which has been modified to be handicap friendly with a large shower and plenty of hand rails around for easier manoeuvrability.
